Assam: Hagrama Mohillary vows to form BTC, opens door for alliance if UPPL exits NDA

Barely a day after Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma addressed the Vijay Sankalp Sabha in Kajalgaon, Bodoland People’s Front (BPF) president Hagrama Mohilary demonstrated his party’s political muscle on Tuesday by leading a grand Ashirbad Yatra in the same town, drawing several thousand supporters.

Addressing the gathering and later speaking to the media, Mohilary exuded confidence in his party’s prospects, declaring, “This time, we will definitely form the BTC.”

In response to the All Assam Students’ Union’s (AASU) recent appeal for broader unity, the BPF chief reiterated his openness to alliance talks, stating, “I have been saying for a long time that if UPPL leaves the NDA, we have no objection to friendship with them. AASU should make this clear first.”

Taking a swipe at political rivals Khampa Borgoyary and Ranjit Basumatary, Mohilary remarked, “I have been observing where they will contest elections I will contest from there.” He further jibed, “Khampa is such a big leader, yet where is he hiding now?”

Adding a note of intrigue, Mohilary informed supporters that a helicopter would be arriving on August 21, hinting at possible campaign activities or high-profile arrivals.
