Assam: Hailakandi spa faces allegations of illegal prostitution behind parlour operations

Allegations have surfaced of an alleged illegal prostitution racket operating under the guise of a spa and parlour in Hailakandi town, prompting questions over the functioning of the local police and district administration.

According to the allegations, the activities have been taking place for an extended period under the name of “Unique Spa and Parlour” in Hailakandi town.

A similar allegation had earlier been levelled against an establishment named “Bright Spa and Parlour”. The establishment was reportedly shut down by police after objectionable visuals allegedly linked to the premises went viral on social media.

However, allegations have now surfaced that the establishment subsequently changed its name and resumed similar activities.

There are also allegations that young women were being brought from outside the district for the purported activities.

The allegations have raised concerns among local residents, who have also questioned the role of the Hailakandi police and district administration in preventing such activities.

Hailakandi district president of the Asom Jatiyatabadi Yuva Chatra Parishad, Hussain Ahmed, has demanded a thorough investigation into the allegations and strict action against those found involved.

Authorities have not yet officially commented on the allegations.
