Assam: Health Department raids alleged fake doctor’s clinic at Cachar's Bhagabazar Manipuri Market

The Health Department on July 21 conducted a special raid at a clinic operated by an alleged fake doctor at Bhagabazar Manipuri Market in Cachar district. The operation was carried out around 10 am by a special medical team from Silchar.

 

Officials present during the raid included Dr. Mrs. Chikdar, Sakat Chakraborty, Cherab Uddin, the in-charge of Bhagabazar Primary Health Centre, along with other health department personnel.

 

According to preliminary allegations by the Health Department, Daren Sinha of Manipuri Market had allegedly been operating the clinic for a long time without the required valid registration and permission. Authorities also alleged that he had been presenting himself as a doctor and providing treatment to patients without possessing a recognised medical degree or the necessary documents.

 

The raid was conducted following allegations of selling medicines without prescriptions and violating various medical service regulations.

 

The action comes after a video recently went viral on social media alleging that a child suffered physical complications after being administered an incorrect injection. Following the incident, the Health Department initiated an investigation based on multiple complaints from local residents.

 

Officials said that documents related to the clinic’s registration, licence, medical qualifications and other necessary papers are being scrutinised. If the allegations are found to be true, legal action will be taken against the concerned individual in accordance with the law.

 

The incident has triggered widespread concern in the Bhagabazar area. However, the Health Department clarified that the allegations remain at a preliminary stage until the investigation is completed.
