Assam highways to match global standards in three years: Nitin Gadkari
Union minister Nitin Gadkari addressed an election rally at Rani under the 29-Palashbari Legislative Assembly constituency in Assam on Thursday, April 2, campaigning in support of BJP candidate Himanshu Shekhar Baishya.
The rally drew a large gathering, with Gadkari highlighting infrastructure development undertaken since 2014. He said that Assam’s national highways would be upgraded to match international standards within three years. He also urged voters to support the BJP by voting for the party’s symbol, stating that a strong mandate was necessary to sustain development initiatives.
Addressing the gathering, Baishya said his campaign would avoid personal attacks. However, he cautioned that he would respond and consider legal recourse if rival candidate Pankaj Lochan Goswami resorted to personal remarks during the campaign.
Baishya also raised the issue of human-elephant conflict in Palashbari and adjoining Rani areas, stating that the problem would be resolved within four to five months if he is elected.
As part of the party’s campaign schedule, Union Home Minister Amit Shah is set to address a rally at Sualkuchi on April 3 in the newly formed Palashbari constituency. Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma is scheduled to campaign at Rampur playground on April 5, while State Minister Piyush Hazarika will address a rally at Jarapata playground in Borduwa Tea Estate on April 6.
The BJP has intensified its campaign in the constituency with senior leaders participating in a series of rallies ahead of the Assembly elections.
