Assam: Himanta Biswa Sarma joins in the celebrations of Bhar Daul at Barpeta Satra

The vibrant celebrations of Bhar Daul continued today at the historic Barpeta Satra, resonating with spiritual fervor and traditional customs. Marking the second day of the Daul Festival dedicated to Sri Sri Krishna, devotees gathered to pay homage at the revered Satra established by Mahapurush Sri Sri Madhabdeva, a distinguished disciple of Mahapurush Srimanta Sankardeva.

In adherence to centuries-old traditions, the day commenced with the ceremonial homage to the Gosains, with Deka Satriya of Barpeta Satra leading the rituals by sprinkling faku. This ritualistic gesture symbolizes reverence and devotion towards the divine entities, embodying the essence of Sattriya culture.

The highlight of the day was the gracious presence of Chief Minister Dr. Himanta Biswa Sarma, who graced the occasion with his esteemed presence. Arriving at Barpeta Satra amidst much anticipation, the Chief Minister was warmly welcomed by the devotees. His visit not only underscored the cultural significance of the event but also reaffirmed the government's commitment to preserving Assam's rich heritage.

Amidst the melodious chants and rhythmic hymns, the Chief Minister actively participated in the sacred rituals, offering his services at the Akshaya Banti and Guru Ashana of the Satra. As a symbol of unity and inclusivity, he joined the devotees in serving Daul Govinda Mahaprabhu and Kalia Thakur Gosain, partaking in the age-old tradition of fakuguri.

Furthermore, Chief Minister Sarma immersed himself in the festive spirit by engaging in the colorful Holi song performances, embracing the cultural tapestry of Assam with enthusiasm and zeal. Accompanied by Phani Bhushan Chaudhary, the candidate from Barpeta Lok Sabha constituency, the Chief Minister's visit encapsulated the essence of harmony and reverence that defines the ethos of Barpeta Satra's Daul Mahotsav.
