Senior IAS officer Smti Prabhati Thaosen was sworn in as a Member of the Assam Public Service Commission (APSC) today, June 17.
The oath of affirmation was administered by the Hon’ble Governor of Assam, Shri Lakshman Prasad Acharya, during a formal ceremony held at Raj Bhawan in Guwahati.
Thaosen is currently serving as Secretary to the Government of Assam in the Border Protection & Development and Tourism Departments, and also holds the charge of State Enquiry Officer. Her elevation to the APSC marks another milestone in a career distinguished by dedication to public service and administrative excellence.
A native of Haflong in Dima Hasao district, Thaosen brings extensive experience in governance, having served in various key administrative roles across the state. She is widely respected for her integrity, efficiency, and commitment to public welfare.

She was accompanied at the oath-taking ceremony by her family members, including her husband Dr. Ruplal Nunisa, who is the Additional Director of Health Services, Assam, and originally hails from Diphu in Karbi Anglong district. Also present were Dr. Bishnu Ram Nunisa, General Secretary of the Sepak Takraw Association of Assam, and other close well-wishers.
Thaosen’s induction into the APSC is expected to strengthen the functioning of the commission, which plays a crucial role in the recruitment of civil servants and administrative officers for the state. Her experience and insights into the state’s administrative framework are seen as valuable assets in enhancing transparency, meritocracy, and effectiveness in public service appointments.
The ceremony at Raj Bhawan reflected the solemnity and importance of the occasion, with dignitaries and senior officials in attendance to witness the swearing-in of one of Assam’s most respected civil servants into a new phase of her public service journey.
