Assam: Illegal coal-laden truck collides at NH 315 in Margherita
A coal-laden truck involved in illegal coal operations met with a horrific accident late Wednesday night on National Highway 315 near Chariali, Margherita.
The incident occurred around 11:30 PM, causing significant damage and raising concerns about ongoing illegal coal transportation in the region.
The ill-fated truck, bearing registration number AS01Q C 9817, reportedly originated from an illegal coal coke unit in the Ledo, Margherita subdivision.
Traveling at high speed, the truck lost control, veered off the road, and collided with a roadside tree. The impact caused further damage when a private vehicle parked in a nearby garage was struck.

Fortunately, eyewitnesses confirmed that the truck driver escaped unharmed and was safely rescued from the wreckage. The driver was later detained by the police for questioning.
Margherita police promptly arrived at the scene and have since launched an investigation into the circumstances of the accident.
Authorities are also examining the truck's involvement in illegal coal transportation, a longstanding issue in the region.
This incident highlights the urgent need for stricter enforcement to curb illegal coal activities, which pose both safety and environmental risks.
