Assam: Illegal hunting of wild birds reported in Nagaon’s Bhakat Gaon

Illegal wildlife hunting continues unabated in Assam. This time, a disturbing incident of illegal wild bird hunting has come to light at Singimari in Bhakat Gaon, under Manipur Top Panchayat in Nagaon district.

According to local residents, a group of people has allegedly been involved in trapping and hunting thousands of wild birds in the area for a long period of time.

Following a tip-off, when our correspondent reached the spot, a commotion broke out. Several alleged poachers reportedly fled the area immediately after noticing the journalist’s camera.

Local residents have alleged that the group has been illegally capturing different species of wild birds using traps and nets for a considerable period.

Nature lovers and local residents have now urged the Forest Department to take strict action against those involved and ensure the early apprehension of the alleged poachers who fled the spot.
