With multiple cases of illegal "teer" cropping around in the state, several people have lost money playing this illegal game forcing the state authorities to tighten its grip on people involved in "teer" games. In a latest development, one person was arrested by Gauripur police in Dhubri.
The arrested alleged teer mafia identified as Raju Das is a resident of Kalibari in Ward No.2 of Gauripur. The police personnel arrested Das while he was selling teer tickets at Gauripur tempo stand.
During the search operation, the Gauripur police recovered rupees 16,570 in cash including teer books and incriminating materials from the possession of Das in presence of public in the tempo stand.
The Gauripur police brought the alleged teer mafia Das to the police station and are interrogating him for more information about their illegal networks. The operation was led by inspector Bikash Pratim Mahanta of Gauripur police station.
