Assam: Illegal timber laden trucks seized in Digboi during late night operation by forest department

Under the jurisdiction of Digboi Forest Division, two trucks, along with a truck and JCB, were seized for illegal logging activity in the region.

The seized truck, carrying illegal logs along with a JCB, were apprehended by the Regional Forest Department within the premises of the Tipong Reserve Forest.

A special team from the Forest Department conducted an operation starting at 7:00 pm, leading to the seizure of the vehicles involved in illegal logging around 2:30 am today.

Although affected individuals managed to flee the scene, intensified forest patrols and operations have been initiated by the Forest Department to curb such activities.

Recent incursions by timber smugglers into protected forests of Assam, including Tirap, Tipong, and Paharpur in Arunachal Pradesh, have resulted in significant loss of valuable trees, leading various deforestation initiatives in the region.

It's time to see if the Assam government and forest department will take decisive actions to address the situation, aiming for notable breakthroughs in curbing illegal logging activities.
