Assam: In a first, 15 kg tumour successfully operated in Goalpara hospital

A successful surgery to remove a 15 kg tumour was carried out Hiranyabh Rabha Memorial Hospital and Recharge Institute Private Limited at Dudhnoi. 

 

This marks the first time in Goalpara district that a successful surgery for a large tumor has been performed.

 

Dr Jayakanta Rabha performed the surgery on a 66-year-old woman with a tumour weighing 15 kg, in Dudhnoi. 

 

According to reporters, a family member of the woman went to doctors at various hospitals but no doctor could cure the disease or get rid of it. Even recently a doctor in Goalpara suggested that the elderly woman had cancer and advised her to go from Goalpara to Guwahati for better treatment.

 

Later, the elderly woman's family came to Hiranyabh Nursing Home in Dudhnoi and met Dr Jayakanta Rabha and narrated everything. After examining various tests, it was confirmed that the woman’s condition was not cancerous and she was diagnosed with a large-sized tumour in her stomach. 

 

A total of three doctors and nurses of the hospital along with Dr Rabha carried out the successful surgery for 45 minutes. 

 

Meanwhile, the family of the old lady expressed satisfaction over the successful surgery and expressed gratitude to the doctors, nurses as well as the authorities of the hospital. They also informed that the woman has been sick for 35-36 years.

 

The patient's relatives as well as the medical staff of the hospital are elated.
