Assam industrial worker found dead near Boko forest on NH-17

The body of a 45-year-old man was discovered on November 7 beside National Highway 17 near the Agchia forest area in Boko, Assam.

Commuters travelling along the route raised the alarm after detecting a foul odour from the roadside. Police were alerted soon after and recovered the body, later identified as that of Sanatan Kalita, a resident of Haripur, Boko.

According to police sources, Kalita worked at the Chaygaon Industrial Growth Centre and had been living with his family in a rented house within the industrial area. He reportedly left home on Thursday following a family dispute and did not return.

Preliminary reports suggest that Kalita may have consumed poison in the nearby forest, though authorities have not confirmed this. The body has been sent to Gauhati Medical College and Hospital for a post-mortem examination scheduled for Saturday.

Boko Police have begun an investigation to determine the exact cause of death.
