Assam: Inquiry sought into alleged concealment of HSLC results in Batadrava school

Protests were held in Batadrava following allegations of misinformation by a private educational institution regarding the results of the High School Leaving Certificate (HSLC) examination.

The controversy centres on Rampur Chalapathar Jatiya Vidyalaya, where the principal, Shafiqul Islam, has been accused of concealing information about students who did not clear the HSLC examination.

According to the allegations, the institution selectively highlighted successful candidates while withholding details of unsuccessful students, thereby presenting an incomplete account of its overall performance.

Members of the public have further alleged that the dissemination of such information was intended to project the private school in a favourable light in comparison to government institutions. The claims include assertions that the school’s reported achievements were exaggerated, potentially misleading parents and guardians and influencing admission decisions.

Residents from Batadrava and adjoining areas, including members of the educated community, staged protests condemning the alleged suppression of factual examination outcomes.

Protesters called the issue, a matter of public concern, particularly in the context of transparency and accountability in the education sector.

The demonstrators have called for a fair and impartial inquiry by the Education Department to ascertain the veracity of the allegations and determine whether any norms or regulations were violated. They have also urged authorities to take appropriate action if the claims are substantiated.

Officials from the concerned institution have not yet issued a detailed public response to the allegations. Meanwhile, the demand for an official probe continues to gain traction among local residents.
