Assam: International Tea Day celebrated at NEFA Tea Industries in Margherita's Bargolai

NEFA Tea Industries in Bargolai, under the Margherita Co-District, became the focal point of celebration as International Tea Day was commemorated with great enthusiasm on Tuesday. The event was jointly organized by the Indian Tea Manufacturers Association and the Assam Bought Leaf Tea Manufacturers Association.

The celebration aimed to raise awareness about the cultural and economic importance of tea while promoting its popularity among the public. Notably, fifteen Bought Leaf Tea factories across the Margherita Co-District extended their support for the event.

The program was formally inaugurated by Margherita Co-District Commissioner Parikshit Thoudam, who lauded the role of the tea industry in strengthening local livelihoods and contributing to the economy.

As part of the public outreach, NEFA Tea Industries initiated a community engagement activity wherein free tea and biscuits were distributed at several locations across Margherita, encouraging greater public participation in the observance.

The event also witnessed the presence of several notable figures, including Sanjeev Kumar Choubey, owner of NEFA Tea Industries; his sons Aryan Kumar Choubey and Shrijan Kumar Choubey, both directors of the company; as well as tea industry stakeholders such as Ashok Agarwal, Kamlesh Kumar Dubey, Bhabesh Medhi of Tirap Regional Small Tea Growers Association, and Rudra Bahadur Chetry, among others.
