The Ministry of Housing and Urban Affairs launched the 'Jal Diwali' an awareness programme in Dhubri on Tuesday, and officials from both AMRUT and NULM assisted in helping women in the key field of water treatment plant infrastructure.
The country's first phase of the awareness campaign "Water for Women, Women for Water," known as "Jal Diwali," is scheduled to take place over three days and is anticipated to engage women from Self Help Groups (SHG) in Dhubri.
Through this programme, the women will gain a better understanding of how water treatment plants function and how water quality is tested. Souvenirs and articles created by women SHGs will be used to encourage women's active involvement in water management and learn about the AMRUT scheme and its impact on water infrastructure, helping them make informed decisions about water resources informed, Dr. Lachit Deka city project manager NULM, Dhubri.
During these visits, the women SHGs will gain insights into the essential steps involved in providing clean and safe drinking water to households. Additionally women will receive education on water quality testing procedures, ensuring that people receive high quality water. The ultimate aim is to instill a sense of ownership and responsibility among women for water infrastructure.
The event was presided by Masi Topno executive officer Dhubri Municipal Board along with Dr. Lachit Deka city project manager NULM, Babul Borgohain nodal officer Amrut, Dhubri as well as other officials and thirty women from Dhubri urban Self Help Group.
