Assam: Janmashtami celebrations enthrall devotees at Dhubri Naam Ghar
The Dhubri Naam Ghar organised an enchanting festival of Janmashtami, the birth day of Lord Krishna on Monday night, where devotees gathered to take part in the celebrations, as a consequence to the people's deeply ingrained faith.
The celebration continued late into the night, with devotees engaging in 'naam prasanga' (a devotional chanting session), 'nagara naam' (devotional song helps create a spiritual atmosphere which uplift the souls) and 'naam kirtan' (devotional singing). The aais, or the elderly women of the community, led these devotional practices, creating an atmosphere of deep spiritual connection and reverence.
Udayan Chakraborty, the president of the Dhubri Namghar Managing Committee, emphasized the significance of the occasion and the importance of coming together as a community to celebrate such auspicious events. The dedication and enthusiasm of the participants ensured that the night was filled with devotional fervor, making it a memorable event for everyone involved.
Mahapurush Srimanta Sankardev preached devotion (bhakti) to Krishna consisting primarily in the singing (kirtan) and listening to (sravan) of his deeds and activities. Ekasarana follows the dasya attitude (bhava) of worship in which the devotee considers himself to be a servant of God said, the president of the Dhubri Namghar Managing Committee, Chakraborty.
Devotees believe that the music invokes the blessings of Lord Krishna and brings peace and joy to them. These celebrations are a testament to the resilient spirit of the people, and their unwavering commitment to preserving the rich heritage of Assam and also a reminder of the importance of cultural and spiritual nourishment and of the need to protect and cherish these invaluable assets.
