A group of journalists was assaulted by a mob in Morigaon district while on reporting duty, despite showing valid Election Commission identification.
The attackers also snatched a gold chain from one journalist and damaged a mobile phone belonging to a cameraman. An FIR has been lodged, and police have begun investigating the incident.
The incident took place when journalists were collecting news at Jaluguti. Without provocation, a group comprising both men and women allegedly launched a sudden attack on the media personnel.
Among those injured or targeted in the attack were cameraman Abuddin Rahman, journalist Monowar Hussain, and Mokibur Rahman.
Eyewitnesses stated that the journalists repeatedly showed their official ID cards issued by the Election Commission, but the attackers paid no heed and continued the assault.
A gold chain was forcibly taken from one journalist, and the mobile phone of cameraman Abu, from a Guwahati-based media outlet, was broken.
Officers from the Jaluguti police outpost arrived at the spot shortly after the attack and collected visual evidence.
The victims have filed an FIR, and police are currently trying to identify all individuals involved in the incident.
