Assam: Journalists commemorate Dr Bhupen Hazarika's 98th birth anniversary in Dhubri

The District Bartajibi Sangha and the District Press Club, under the District Joint Forum of Journalists, paid tribute to Dr. Bhupen Hazarika on his 98th birth anniversary on September 8 in Dhubri.
 

The members of these groups commemorated the day by paying their respects at a bust of the Bharat Ratna awardee, situated along the banks of the Brahmaputra River.
 

The event was attended by journalists, local residents, and employees of the Dhubri Postal Department.
 

An employee of the Postal Department, Jitendra Nath Das, sang a song in honor of the "Sudhakantha" and paid tribute to the great musician with a garland of flowers and an incense lamp.
 

Meanwhile, Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma also paid tribute to Dr Hazarika. He wrote on X, "The music of Dr. Bhupen Hazarika transcends all barriers! His songs radiate the message of justice, harmony and brotherhood. Today on his Jayanti, we pay homage to the Bard of Brahmaputra."
