Assam: Jute training programme in Dhubri equips entrepreneurs with key skills

A skill development initiative aimed at fostering self-employment in the jute industry concluded at UCO Rural Self Employment Training Institute (RSETI) in Dhubri. Supported by the central and Assam governments, the programme trained 34 participants, equipping them with practical skills to start their own businesses.

The training featured expert sessions from Juri Baruah, a domain skill trainer, and Debodotta Chaki, an Entrepreneurship Development Programme trainer at UCO RSETI. Participants gained hands-on experience in jute product manufacturing and business management.

State Director for RSETI Assam, Pankaj Kumar Baruah, highlighted the importance of such programmes in promoting economic independence. “These initiatives empower individuals to stand on their own feet, support their families, and contribute to Atmanirbhar Bharat,” he said.

Director of UCO RSETI Dhubri, Apun Pratim Handique, emphasised the alignment of the initiative with the national vision of self-sufficiency. Beneficiaries, including Afruza Begum, expressed optimism about utilising their new skills for sustainable livelihoods. "This initiative marks another step towards entrepreneurial empowerment, strengthening our economies and contributing to India's larger goal of self-sufficiency through skill development," she said.
