Assam: Kaliabor farmer turns to organic manure, vanilla cultivation for self-employment

Making productive use of his own land, Jibon Prasad Sharma of Chulung in Assam’s Kaliabor has taken up eco-friendly organic manure production and vanilla cultivation as a means of self-employment.
 

Sharma has established a farm for producing eco-friendly organic manure and is using the manure in his vanilla cultivation. He has set a target of producing around 120 tonnes of organic manure annually and has already started selling the manure produced at his farm.
 

Alongside organic manure production, Sharma is also working towards promoting chemical-free farming in the area. He has planned to gradually make local agricultural land free from chemical fertilisers by encouraging the use of organic alternatives.
 

The initiative aims to promote sustainable farming practices while creating an additional source of income through organic manure production and vanilla cultivation.
