Assam: Khelo India East Zone Women's Wushu League competition concludes

The Khelo India - East Zone Women's Wushu League competition being held at Sports Authority of India (SAI) STC Centre in Kokrajhar district concluded on Saturday. On the concluding day, prizes and certificates were handed over to the winners. 

BTR executive member Dr Nilut Swargiary, Assam Wushu Association Assistant Secretary Kumud Gogoi, social worker Maneswar Daimary attended the program and handed over the prizes.

Organized by the Sports Authority of India, the Indian Wushu Federation and Assam Wushu Association, a total of 550 players from 9 states of India, including  Assam, Meghalaya, West Bengal, Arunachal, Manipur, Sikkim and Bihar participated in the 4 day long event. 

Assam Wushu Association Assistant Secretary Kumud Gogoi said that host Assam topped the medal tally followed by Manipur and West Bengal.

"A total of 550 players participated in the tournament. Assam is the top most team in the tournament. They are followed by Manipur team and the third team is West Bengal. It was quite good. And in the future also we will collaborate with our colleagues in BTR, and they have assured that in the future they would hold the tournament from the side of the BTR administration," said Gogoi. 

Best 4 players in each category (Senior, Junior, Sub Junior (Sanda) and Taolu) were selected to participate in the upcoming National Women's League.
