Assam: Kokrajhar court sentences two to life imprisonment in 2008 land dispute murder case

The District and Sessions Court in Kokrajhar has sentenced two individuals to life imprisonment for the 2008 murder of a man during a land dispute. The convicts, Aktar Ali and Abash Ali have also been fined Rs 10,000 each.

The fatal incident, which occurred in the Koshumbil area under the jurisdiction of the Gossaigaon Police Station, involved the brutal killing of Sayed Ali following a disagreement over land ownership.

The case, registered as Gossaigaon Police Station Case No. 215/08, underwent an extensive investigation process which eventually led to the arrests and prosecution of the accused.

Public Prosecutor Niranjan Ray confirmed that the District Judge handed down the verdict after evaluating all evidence and testimonies presented over the course of the trial.
