Assam: Lat Mandal held under bribery charges in Lakhimpur

Sleuths of Directorate of Vigilance and Anti-Corruption arrested one Lat Mandal in Assam's Lakhimpur after he accepted bribe money on September 30.

The accused identified as Dulal Chandra Baniya was posted at Narayanpur Revenue Circle in Lakhimpur.

Taking to their official handle, the cell posted on X, “Today @DIR_VAC_ASSAM trapped red handed Dulal Ch. Baniya, Lot Mandal of Narayanpur Revenue Circle, Lakhimpur, in his home at Dhalpur immediately after he accepted bribe for processing mutation works of the complainant.”

Acting on a complaint, the anti-corruption cell apprehended the accused at his Dhalpur apartment after he collected bribe money from the complainant for mutation work.

On September 20, a Lat Mandal in Assam's Lakhimpur district was detained on graft accusations after allegedly demanding money.

Hemendra Bora, a Lat Mandal stationed in Tinikunia, Lakhimpur district, was identified.

According to sources, the accused wanted a fee of Rs. 1 lakh for processing the namjari of a land mutation applicant.
