Assam: Leopard seen wandering near ONGC oil well in Titabor

Fear gripped Titabor's Naginizuri area in Assam after residents saw a leopard wandering around the residential area

As per sources, a security guard of ONGC spotted the animal, reigniting fears that have gripped the locality for the past 10 days. The leopard, which was earlier seen in Bijoy Nagar, has sparked widespread alarm after multiple sightings and attacks on livestock in various localities.

Residents report that the leopard has been roaming unchecked, targeting goats in Borhola's Naginizuri and nearby areas.

Despite the increasing threat to local safety, the forest department has been unable to mount an effective response. Frustrated by the lack of action, the locals have taken matters in their own hands to finance a makeshift trap in hopes of capturing the animal.

However, efforts have been hampered by the unavailability of goats to use as bait, highlighting a dire shortage of necessary resources.

The ongoing situation has sparked criticism of the forest department, with locals accusing officials of failing to take adequate measures to protect the public. With fear and uncertainty looming, the residents are left to fend for themselves as the leopard continues to pose a serious threat.
