Assam: Loaded truck gets stuck in pothole on NH-27 in Dima Hasao
A loaded truck reportedly got stuck in a large pothole on National Highway-27 in Maibang subdivision of Assam's Dima Hasao district, highlighting concerns over the condition and safety of the highway.
The incident has drawn renewed attention to the condition of the NH-27 stretch, where truck drivers and other road users have reportedly been facing difficulties due to potholes and damaged road surfaces.
Truck drivers alleged that despite paying toll tax, several stretches of the highway lack proper road conditions and basic safety measures.
They also claimed that adequate caution boards, warning signs and other safety measures were missing at vulnerable stretches, increasing risks for motorists.
According to the drivers, the condition of the road poses particular challenges for heavy vehicles and could become more hazardous during night travel and adverse weather conditions.
The drivers have urged Union Road Transport and Highways Minister Nitin Gadkari, Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma and officials of the National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) to intervene and ensure immediate repairs to the damaged stretch.
They also called for proper warning signs and other safety measures along vulnerable sections of the highway.
The incident has once again brought the focus on road maintenance and safety along NH-27 in the Maibang area, with truck drivers and commuters seeking urgent intervention from the authorities.
