Assam: Locals capture three suspected drug traffickers in Dhubri, hand them to police

Three men suspected of running a long-standing drug racket were captured by residents of Balajan Part-II, Gauripur, in Dhubri district on Sunday. The suspects were reportedly caught red-handed while attempting to sell drugs at a house in the area.

The community members, acting swiftly, restrained the men and handed them over to the Balajan police. The arrested individuals have been identified as Zakirul Haque of Lalkura, and Safikul Haque and Abu Taleb Sheikh, both from Balajan Part-II.

Residents say the trio had been involved in illegal drug trade and other anti-social activities for years, creating fear in the locality. Police recovered two mobile phones and six containers of suspected narcotics from them.

Investigators are now questioning the suspects to trace the source of the drugs and determine whether they are linked to a wider trafficking network.
