Union Agriculture Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan, during his visit to Assam, today January 9 announced significant strides in housing and agricultural development in the state.
Speaking on the occasion, he stated, “Today, we felicitated women whose annual income has reached Rs10 lakh, recognizing them as 'Lakhpati Didis.' The Assam government is committed to creating more such inspiring success stories. Additionally, I approved 3.88 lakh homes for the people of Assam. Our focus remains steadfast on the welfare of farmers and rural communities in the state.”
In a joint effort, Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma and Union Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan inaugurated the Grihapravesh of 50,000 homes under a project valued at ₹650 crore. Highlighting the broader impact, CM Sarma noted, "To date, over 20 lakh homes have been delivered in Assam, and the expansion of this initiative will continue to benefit countless families."
The Chief Minister further emphasized agricultural development by dedicating over Rs 50 crore worth of agricultural machinery, along with inaugurating a warehouse and market yard. Twenty women entrepreneurs, “Maha Lakhpati Baideos,” were also honoured for their outstanding contributions to self-reliance, embodying the spirit of Atmanirbharta.
Taking to social media platform X, CM Sarma expressed gratitude and optimism, stating that these efforts signify the government's unwavering commitment to empowering citizens and fostering a self-sustaining Assam.
