Assam: Mahindra dealer in Morigaon faces cheating allegation
A customer from Assam’s Morigaon district has alleged cheating against a Mahindra vehicle dealership in the town after he was reportedly asked to pay an additional amount at the time of delivery despite completing the agreed payments.
The complaint has been lodged against GD Motors, a Mahindra dealer located in Morigaon. The aggrieved customer, identified as Dijit Hukai, alleged that he booked a Bolero pickup vehicle at the dealership on December 11 by paying Rs 50,000 as the booking amount.
According to the complainant, he later paid a total of Rs 2.60 lakh as down payment towards the vehicle. However, at the time of delivery, the dealership allegedly demanded an additional Rs 29,000, which, he claimed, was not disclosed during the booking process.
The vehicle was scheduled to be delivered on January 31, but even by February 5, the customer alleged that the vehicle had not been handed over. When he sought a refund of the amount paid following the alleged last-minute demand, the dealership authorities reportedly refused to return the money.
Following the dispute, the customer approached Morigaon Police Station seeking police intervention. Sources said Morigaon Police brought the vehicle to the police station as part of the inquiry, but no resolution had been reached till the time of filing this report.
The complainant further alleged that several other customers may have faced similar issues, claiming that buyers were being pressured to pay extra amounts at the last moment. He has urged the administration to conduct a proper investigation and take appropriate action.
