Assam: Major blaze engulfs Barpeta's Shila Bazaar, 15 shops destroyed

A devastating fire erupted in Shila Bazaar, Barpeta, late last night (November 26), reducing 15 shops to ashes. The fire, which began around 1 AM, caused extensive damage to goods and properties, with losses running into several lakh rupees.

Local residents suspect a short circuit to be the cause of the fire, which spread rapidly across the market.

Emergency services arrived at the scene nearly two hours after the fire broke out, with teams from the Tarabari Police Station and the State Disaster Response Force (SDRF) working to control the situation and prevent further damage.
