A case of alleged assault and attempted murder has surfaced from Ghilabari village under Mandira Police Outpost in Boko, where a man has filed a First Information Report (FIR) against a PHED (Public Health Engineering Department) contractor after a violent altercation over a suspected extramarital affair.
According to the FIR filed on Tuesday, complainant Nitai Boro accused Alangir Hussain (36), a resident of Ghilabari village and a PHED contractor, of grievously assaulting him after Boro allegedly discovered Hussain in a compromising position with his wife late at night near their residence.
Boro claimed that upon confronting the duo, Hussain reacted violently—breaking Boro's leg and attempting to strangle him. He further alleged that Hussain fled the scene immediately after nearby residents responded to his calls for help. In the process, Hussain reportedly left behind personal belongings, including a shirt and sandals, which locals used to identify him.
The complainant also told police that he had long suspected Hussain of maintaining frequent contact with his wife and had harbored doubts about their relationship. Local residents added that Hussain, who is believed to be financially well-off, has long been accused of engaging in immoral activities and intimidating people in the underdeveloped area with either money or threats.
In-Charge of Mandira Police Outpost, Bijoy Goswami, confirmed that a formal investigation has been launched. “We are verifying all aspects of the incident and will take strict action against anyone found guilty,” Goswami stated.
The incident has sparked concern among residents over increasing social issues stemming from alleged misuse of technology and unchecked behavior by influential individuals.
