<p>The accused, identified as Mondeep Changmai, a resident of Changmai Gaon in Lengeri under the Tingkhang police station area, was arrested by Tingkhang police.<br>
 </p>

<p>According to police, a case has been registered against Changmai under Section 308 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) and Sections 10 and 13 of the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act (UAPA).<br>
 </p>

<p>Police alleged that the accused was involved in extortion activities and acted as a conduit for the proscribed insurgent organisation.<br>
 </p>

<p>Following his interrogation, Changmai was produced before a court and remanded to judicial custody. Police said further investigation into the case is underway.<br>
 </p>

<p>Authorities have not disclosed further details regarding the alleged extortion or the nature of the accused's purported links with the banned outfit.</p>
