Assam: Margherita Bazaar Committee distributes fruits to over 300 patients on Independence Day

The Margherita Bazaar Committee marked the 80th Independence Day by distributing fruits and food items to more than 300 patients undergoing treatment at the Margherita Civil Hospital and the Central Hospital of North Eastern Coalfields, Coal India Ltd.

The initiative was organised as part of the Independence Day celebrations in Margherita. The committee's president, Santosh Kumar Chetry (Munna), and in-charge general secretary, Bappa Paul, participated in the programme and distributed the items among the patients.

The Margherita Co-District Administration centrally organised the 80th Independence Day celebrations at the Central Field in the heart of Margherita town.

Officials and representatives who participated in the patient outreach programme included Sudha Thapa, Sub-Inspector of Food and Civil Supplies, Margherita Co-District Administration; Sanjib Das, Financial Management Officer of the Margherita Municipal Board; Dr Amit Shah of Margherita Civil Hospital; and Girish Chandra Pati, in-charge of the Margherita FRU Civil Hospital.

According to the Margherita Bazaar Committee, it has been carrying out the initiative of distributing food items to patients on Independence Day for around five decades.
