Assam: Margherita hosts science exhibition, distributes kits to boost practical learning

An interschool science exhibition and distribution of Science and Electricity Kits under the “Jigyasa” project took place at Margherita College on Monday, November 11, aiming to enhance hands-on science education across the Margherita Education Block.

 

Organised by the Co-District Commissioner’s office and the Block Elementary Education Office in collaboration with North Eastern Coalfields (NEC), CIL NEC Margherita, the event marked a significant step in practical science learning.

 

A total of 77 Science and Electricity Kits were distributed to 65 local schools, intended to empower teachers and students with improved tools for conducting scientific experiments.

 

Officials from the Margherita Co-District Administration provided a brief demonstration on the usage of the kits, emphasising their role in enhancing science education.

 

Highlighting the event, the Margherita Education Block also launched a resource book titled “Teaching Learning Materials,” aimed at supporting teachers in utilizing resources effectively in their classrooms.

 

The event featured an interactive session with officials including Swapneel Paul (IAS), Tinsukia District Commissioner, and Prakshit Thoudam (IAS), Margherita Co-District Commissioner, offering educators, CRCCs, and students a platform to share ideas on educational improvements in the region.

 

The science exhibition drew participation from 10 schools, showcasing student innovation and understanding of scientific principles. Top honours were awarded to A,R & T Co High School for first place, followed by Margherita Public Higher Secondary School and Ketetong Janajati HS in second and third places, respectively.

 

Esteemed attendees included officials such as Swapneel Paul (IAS), Tinsukia District Commissioner, T C Ranjith Ram, Divisional Forest Officer, and K Mere, General Manager of NEC, among others. The event reflects ongoing efforts to foster a scientific mindset and equip students with practical skills for future success.
