Assam: Margherita Public Higher Secondary School celebrates platinum jubilee year with tradition and grandeur
Margherita Public Higher Secondary School inaugurated the concluding ceremony of its platinum jubilee year with a grand three-day celebration, showcasing a blend of tradition, culture, and education.
The event commenced with the hoisting of 75 flags, representing the institution's remarkable legacy. The chief guest, Bhaskar Sharma, MLA of Margerita and president of the celebration committee, unfurled the platinum jubilee flag, accompanied by 74 additional flags hoisted by alumni and well-wishers. Principal Gayatri Choudhury raised the school flag, marking the start of the festivities.
The morning program included a tribute session inaugurated by Samar Gohain, a central executive member of the All Assam Students’ Union. Adding to the intellectual fervor, a commemorative book fair and science exhibition were unveiled by renowned author and former principal Barun Borah.
In a colorful display of heritage, Ponakan Boruah, MLA of Chabua, launched a vibrant cultural procession that illuminated the town of Margerita. Featuring over 30 cultural troupes from various communities, the procession enthralled spectators with its lively performances and rich diversity.
The celebrations will continue with an international cultural and educational exchange program in partnership with Dibrugarh University’s International Studies Center. Students from 15 countries will engage with local students, fostering cross-cultural dialogue.
The evening lineup includes a candle-lighting ceremony, cultural performances by the school’s students, and a grand musical finale by Assamese singer Jitul Sonowal.
The platinum jubilee’s culmination promises to be a fitting tribute to the school’s illustrious history, uniting tradition with modernity and community with global outreach.
