A large-scale eviction operation will be carried out by the district administration at two key locations in Nagaon’s Hatichong Mouza, immediately after the completion of the Uriamghat eviction drive.
According to an official notice issued by the Nagaon Sadar Revenue Circle Officer, the operation will target illegal encroachments on government grazing reserve lands in the region. The affected areas include the 72 No. Government Grazing Reserve at Garaimari Pathar Kichamati and the 62 and 63 No. Grazing Reserves at Bogoriguri Pam Kichamati.
Authorities claim that these government lands have been unlawfully occupied, with massive buildings constructed and ponds excavated by individuals of questionable legal status.
In response to the notice issued by the administration late at night, an atmosphere of fear and uncertainty has gripped local residents. Many are reportedly preparing for possible confrontations or displacement.
The eviction comes as part of a broader crackdown on illegal occupation of public lands in Assam, a campaign that has seen similar operations in several districts over the past year.
Officials emphasized that the drive is being conducted to reclaim government land for its intended public use, particularly for grazing and agricultural support.
