Assam Minister Ranjit Kumar Dass on December 17, expressed concern over the declining population of the endangered golden langur, particularly due to various factors leading to their deaths.

During his visit to the Kakoijana Reserved Forest in Bongaigaon district on December 17, Das advocated for measures to restore the habitat of the golden langur, including planting necessary food-bearing trees and constructing vital interlinkages within the forest.

The minister assured that he would discuss these concerns with the departmental authorities and take immediate steps to ensure the protection and conservation of the species.

Highlighting the importance of the Kakoijana Reserve Forest as a vital asset, Das emphasised the need for both domestic and international tourists to experience the presence of these rare creatures in their natural habitat.
