The Guardian Minister of Barpeta, Chandramohan Patowary, reviewed the implementation of the Orunodoi scheme at the District Commissioner’s Office. The meeting, attended by MLAs, the DC, DDC, CEO Zilla Parishad, social workers, and key officials, focused on addressing implementation challenges and exploring solutions.
Earlier in the day, the Minister distributed sports equipment worth ₹10 lakh and ₹5 lakh in cash to youth clubs in each Legislative Assembly Constituency (LAC), reinforcing the government’s commitment to promoting sports and youth engagement in the district.
Patowary highlighted Barpeta’s sporting excellence, particularly in volleyball, and emphasized the importance of the upcoming Ram Rai stadium in nurturing future sports talent. He expressed confidence in the district's potential to produce international-level athletes like Hima Das and assured state support for their development.
Later, the Minister distributed tablets to 307 mentees under the Government of Assam's Arohan programme, enabling them to access digital content for academic growth. He stressed the importance of skill development, innovation, and digital literacy, encouraging students to utilize online resources for self-improvement.
Earlier in the day, Minister Patowary also inaugurated a Health & Wellness Camp at Keoutkuchi High School. The camp provided specialized medical services to over 500 patients, with doctors from FAAMCH and Barpeta Civil Hospital offering consultations in gynecology, pediatrics, orthopedics, and more. Public health awareness was promoted through stalls on family planning, nutrition, and disease prevention. A yoga session emphasized wellness, and 16 TB Mukt Panchayats were felicitated for their efforts in TB elimination.
