Assam minister confronted by angry flood victims in Kaliabor, says 'we won't vote for you'

Assam Minister Keshab Mahanta encountered a hostile reception from flood-affected residents in his constituency of Kaliabor.

The unrest erupted following the demolition of riverbanks in the Hatimura area, which has exacerbated the flooding situation.

Mahanta, who visited Kaliabor to assess the damage and extend support, was met with angry protests. Disgruntled residents, frustrated by the government's response to the crisis, expressed their dissatisfaction vocally. "You don't have to play any more elections, we won't vote for you," shouted some of the victims, highlighting their discontent with Mahanta's handling of the flood situation.

The riverbank demolition in Hatimura has led to severe flooding, causing significant distress among the local population.

The residents have been vocal about their grievances, accusing the government of inadequate flood management and poor disaster response.

The intense backlash indicates a growing dissatisfaction among the electorate in Kaliabor, posing a potential political challenge for Mahanta.

The flood-hit victims' anger underscores the urgency for effective flood control measures and prompt governmental action to alleviate the ongoing crisis.
