Assam Minister Pijush Hazarika visited the Laxminath Bezbaruah Sammanay Kshetra in Ahatguri and took stock of the preparations of the bullfight competition to be held on 16th and 17th January.
Taking to platform X, minister Pijush Hazarika wrote, "Due to the visionary initiative of HCM Dr @himantabiswa, after many years the historic bullfight will restart in Ahatguri. Visited the Laxminath Bezbaruah Sammanay Kshetra, Ahatguri, and took stock of the preparations of the bullfight competition to be held on 16th and 17th January".
Speaking to media at Ahatguri, minster Hazarika said, "Haven't visited Ahatguri bullfight field since 2014 following the controversy surrounding the legalisation of bullfight in Assam. I have grown up here and my father and forefathers were part of several bullfight competitions, so it is kind of a nostalgic feeling to see the bullfight competition come back to life at Ahatguri and reminisce my childhood memories".
Further urging people to follow the SOP released by Assam Government while enjoying bullfight competition, the minister requested all to follow the SOP and also enjoy the game within the legal contours of the country.
