Assam minister Piyush Hazarika inspects palm oil, pineapple cultivation during Barak Valley visit

Assam Minister Piyush Hazarika visited the Barak Valley on October 29 and inspected palm oil cultivation at Dewan Tea Estate and pineapple farms at Phulerthal Markulin, under the Lakhipur Assembly constituency in Cachar district.

Hazarika, who arrived in Silchar on Thursday morning, first visited Dewan Tea Estate to take stock of palm oil cultivation and understand various aspects of production.

He subsequently visited Markulin in the Fulertal area, where he inspected pineapple farms and interacted with local growers to learn about cultivation practices, production and the challenges faced by farmers.

During the interaction, farmers highlighted various problems and placed their demands before the minister.

Hazarika described Markulin's pineapples as a matter of pride for Assam, noting that the produce is supplied to different parts of the country and also exported to international markets.

He assured the farmers that steps would be taken to address some of their demands at the earliest.

As part of his Barak Valley visit, the minister is also scheduled to attend an important meeting at the Silchar District Commissioner's office before proceeding to Hailakandi later in the afternoon.
