Assam minister Ranjeet Dass advocates for year-round accessibility to Manas National Park

Assam Minister Ranjeet Kumar Dass has proposed the idea of keeping Manas National Park open to tourists throughout the year, citing its flood-free status and potential to significantly enhance the region's tourism prospects.

Speaking at a public event in Salbari, Baksa district, Dass highlighted that unlike Kaziranga National Park, which is often affected by seasonal flooding, Manas has not experienced any flood incidents since 2011. This, he noted, makes the park suitable for year-round tourism.

“With the Chief Minister having recently stayed in Manas, it would be a matter of pride and opportunity if we could also host Prime Minister Narendra Modi in the park,” Dass remarked, emphasizing the park's growing prominence in Assam's tourism landscape.

He added that uninterrupted access to the national park could open new avenues for economic growth and employment in the region, particularly for communities around the park who rely on tourism for their livelihood.

The state government is reportedly in deliberation regarding the logistical and ecological feasibility of maintaining the park’s accessibility across all seasons.
