Assam Minister Ranjeet Kumar Das, while addressing a BJP organizational meeting at Jengrenpara in Mathanguri under Baksa district, made assertive remarks about the Bharatiya Janata Party's (BJP) pivotal influence in the Bodoland Territorial Council (BTC). Das stated that no political party can form a government in BTC without the involvement of the BJP.
Projecting confidence ahead of the BTC elections, the minister said, “This time, BJP will secure 18 seats. We will contest in all 40 constituencies. If the public gives us more than 18 seats, it will be a matter of great joy and encouragement for us.”
He emphasized the BJP’s instrumental role in bringing peace and stability to BTC. “Peace in BTC has been made possible due to the united efforts of Chief Minister Dr. Himanta Biswa Sarma and BTC Chief Pramod Boro. This peace has opened the door to progress for the region,” Das added.
The minister also addressed the issue of illegal infiltration, particularly concerns related to Bangladeshi nationals. While not elaborating in detail, he acknowledged the seriousness of the matter and said that the government remains vigilant.
Das was accompanied by BTC Executive Member Gautam Das and other local party leaders during the meeting.
