Assam: Minor girl found dead in Barpeta district

The body of a minor girl was discovered today in Assam's Barpeta district. The six-year-old's body was found in Baghbar, wrapped in a sack. 

The body was found at the premises of the house of a man identified as Tarif Uddin alias Tipu today morning. Noteworthy is that the victim had been missing since January 25. 

It is being suspected that the child has been the victim of sexual assault and murder. 

The victim's father has said that his daughter had gone to Tipu's house on the fateful day and then she went missing. He alleged that Tipu has killed his daughter and called upon the Chief Minister to ensure he gets justice. 

"Today I woke up after 4 am and heard a lot of shouting and crying outside. I rushed out and saw that my daughter is there wrapped in the sack. She went to Tipu's house. Tipu has killed her. I want justice. Himanta Biswa Sarma sir, I want justice for my daughter." said the distraught father.

Meanwhile, a team of the Barpeta Police has reached the spot and are conducting their preliminary investigation. So far, it is not known if any arrests have been made in this regard, even as questioning is underway. 

Meanwhile, the body of the victim has been sent for post mortem at the Fakharuddin Ali Ahmed Medical College Hospital in Barpeta.
