Assam: Miscreants blank fire at restaurant after fight breaks out over bill, two held

Locals of Dibrugarh woke up to a shocking news after some unidentified miscreants blank fired near Zaika dhaba under Barbaruah police station on February 14.

The incident took place around 10.45 pm where some miscreants blank fired from a bolero vehicle at a restaurant. Although no injuries were reported, police have nabbed two persons in connection with the incident.

“Two customers came and enquired if card payment is accepted here. We told them card is not accepted here but you can pay via GPay or cash. Then after hearing us the customers said that they will manage. After having food they came up to the counter and said that they will be able to pay only via card as they did not have any other option available. Then we argued that we don’t have card option hence asked the customers to pay the bill via cash or GPay. Then the customers said that they will not pay the bill if card is not accepted," an employee of Zaika Dhaba said while speaking to the media.

"They threatened us. We then told them that kindly pay the bill or else it will be a problem for us as the owner will instead question us. Then we also told them that there is an ATM nearby, if they wish to pay via cash then they can withdraw the bill amount from the ATM and if required someone from the dhaba can accompany them to the ATM. There were total four persons, two were ladies and the other two were men. They came in a Bolero. They were adamant to leave the premises saying that they will not go anywhere to withdraw cash as it was getting late. Then we too expressed our problems to which the customers started verbally abusing us. The name of our restaurant is Zaika. No they didn’t drink at the dhaba but were already drunk before they came here”, the employee of Zaika dhaba concluded.

An investigation has been initiated into the incident.
