A sense of shock gripped Longku in Umrangso, Dima Hasao district, after the body of a woman reported missing the previous evening was recovered on Thursday.
The deceased has been identified as 48-year-old Beena Ingtipi, a shop owner near the Longku Hydroelectric Project. She had reportedly gone missing on Wednesday evening after closing her shop.
According to police sources, her body was discovered around 10 p.m. in a forested area behind Longku Sakpur LP School. The recovery was made possible through mobile phone tracking. Preliminary examination revealed visible injuries on her head and body, raising suspicions of foul play.
Law enforcement authorities have launched a detailed investigation into the case, while the community awaits answers regarding the circumstances surrounding her death.
