Assam MLA Akhil Gogoi took a jibe at the Congress party, saying that if they only use their allies during tough times but ignore them later, it will cause problems for the party.
Gogoi said, “I am clearly saying that during their (Congress) crisis if they use us and then kick us the next moment they see a betterment in the situation, then we will never help them or be their ally ever.”
He further added, “I want to clearly tell the Congress that we should be playing the next legislative and panchayat election together. If Congress does the same as BJP, if they leave the alliance partner behind then we will not tolerate this.”
Gogoi urged opposition parties to work together in the upcoming panchayat and assembly elections. He emphasized that a united effort is necessary to remove the BJP from power in the state.
He also criticised the Guwahati Urban Development Minister Ashok Singhal for his plan to build a five-star hotel in Kaziranga.
Gogoi argued that this development is wrong for an area known for its wildlife and natural beauty.
“I think there is a need for public hearing amidst the people of Kaziranga related to the making of the five star hotel. And secondly, the people who were residing there for such a long time, even on the government claimed lands, should be given compensation”, he further suggested.
