Assam MLA Sherman Ali confronts contractor over Zubeen Garg's memorial bridge plaque in Barpeta’s Mandia

Assam MLA Sherman Ali Ahmed confronted and threatened a contractor for allegedly showing negligence in the installation of a plaque on a memorial bridge in Yadavpur, Mandia. The confrontation reportedly took place at the site of a bridge erected in memory of singer Zubeen Garg. 

A video that has now gone viral, shows the MLA verbally rebuking the contractor, using strong language while also warning him of physical punishment for the alleged lapse.

Local authorities and the contractor have not yet released formal statements confirming the full sequence of events. Sources say the contractor was accused of oversight in affixing the commemorative plaque; the MLA is reported to have visited the site in person and demanded corrective action on the spot.

Sherman Ali Ahmed, who represents the Baghbar constituency in the Assam Legislative Assembly, has previously been in the news for contentious remarks and party-related disputes.
