Assam: Mob lynching incident reported in Nilambazar area of South Karimganj

A disturbing incident of mob lynching has been reported from the Nilambazar area in South Karimganj district, triggering panic and outrage among local residents. 

According to a complaint, a group of seven to eight youths allegedly assaulted a young man brutally, with the incident reportedly captured on a mobile phone video.

Sources said the victim was chased from the Nilambazar National Highway and taken to a nearby field, where he was attacked. The injured youth has been identified as Salim Mohammad Sultan, a resident of Nilambazar.

Following the assault, Sultan sustained serious injuries. His family has demanded justice and strict action against those involved in the attack. The incident has sent shockwaves through the area, with residents expressing concern over law and order.

Police have taken cognisance of the matter and initiated an investigation to ascertain the circumstances leading to the attack and to identify the perpetrators. Officials said further action will be taken based on the findings of the probe.
