Assam: Mobile IEC van flagged off as Dhubri begins 60 day public health campaign

The Dhubri Health Department has launched a 60-day Information, Education and Communication (IEC) campaign aimed at expanding public health awareness and strengthening community participation across the district.

The campaign was formally inaugurated on Tuesday, September 8 with the flagging off of a mobile IEC van by Dhubri District Commissioner Dibakar Nath from the DC Office campus.

The mobile unit will travel across urban and rural areas of the district as part of the awareness campaign. Over the two-month period, the initiative will organise two health camps every day at different locations, including schools, private institutions and community centres.

The Office of the Joint Director of Health Services, Dhubri, is implementing the campaign in coordination with partner non-governmental organisations (NGOs) to increase local participation and extend the reach of the awareness programmes.

Joint Director of Health Services, Dhubri, Jyoti Kumar Das, said the department was working with its partner organisations to ensure wider community engagement during the campaign.

The daily health camps will focus on encouraging people to pay greater attention to their health, participate in the awareness programmes and make use of testing facilities available through the campaign.

Speaking at the launch, District Commissioner Dibakar Nath urged residents to cooperate with the health authorities and actively participate in the 60-day drive.

To tackle the rising public health concerns surrounding HIV and sexually transmitted infections (STIs), the Office of the Joint Director of Health Services, Dhubri, has launched a 60-day Intensified Information, Education, and Communication (IEC) campaign across the district.

Beyond spreading awareness about transmission risks—such as high-risk behavior and needle-sharing associated with drug abuse—the camps focus heavily on voluntary testing.

The campaign is expected to provide health-related information and facilitate access to testing services across different sections of the district, with the mobile IEC van serving as a key outreach component.
