Assam: Morigaon’s tireless HIV awareness worker Janti Bordoloi Patgiri honoured for dedicated service
Overcoming life’s hardships with courage, confidence and determination, Janti Bordoloi Patgiri of Nij Geruwa village in Morigaon district has emerged as an inspiring example of compassion and community service.
Working as an ASHA supervisor at the Lahorighat Block Primary Health Centre, Janti has transformed her personal experiences into a driving force for social service. She has been actively involved in creating awareness about HIV and encouraging people living with the condition to seek timely medical treatment.
After losing her husband during a difficult phase of her life, Janti rebuilt her life while raising her daughter. Despite social stigma and several challenges, she remained determined and continued to move forward with confidence and a positive outlook, while inspiring others to do the same.
Her work spans health awareness campaigns across villages, maternal and child health, family planning, awareness among pregnant women about safe childbirth, and HIV awareness. She has also played an important role in reconnecting people who had discontinued treatment with the healthcare system.
In recognition of her dedicated service, Janti has received several honours. Most recently, on the occasion of the 80th Independence Day celebrations on August 15, she was felicitated by the Morigaon district administration for her dedicated contribution to the health sector. Morigaon Deputy Commissioner Srishti Singh personally presented her with a certificate of appreciation.
Janti also expressed her gratitude to Morigaon District Tuberculosis Officer Dr Amar Jyoti Deka, acknowledging his support, encouragement and compassionate guidance throughout her journey of service.
Janti’s life carries a powerful message that no matter how difficult the circumstances, hope, confidence and determination can help people find a new path forward. Her courage, dedication and commitment to serving others continue to inspire the community.
